1.21. Supported platforms and system prerequisites

IDERI note runs with both its client and server components, as well as with its administration tools and command line tools on the following operating system platforms (note that the IDERI note service is 64 bits only and will not run on x86 operating system versions anymore):

  • Windows® 8 and Windows® 8.1
  • Windows® 10
  • Windows® 11
  • Windows® Server 2012 and Windows® Server 2012 R2, full install and server core install
  • Windows® Server 2016, full install and server core install
  • Windows® Server 2019, full install and server core install
  • Windows® Server 2022, full install and server core install

Please note: Although the server components of IDERI note can be installed on client/workstation platforms such as Windows® 10, this should only be done for evaluation purposes. For productive systems, the server components of IDERI note should be installed on server versions of the Windows® operating system family as mentioned above, because a client/workstation versions only allow a small number of simultaneous incoming client network connections.

Other than the operating system requirements, there are no additional system prerequisites (except for the IDERI note PowerShell module and IDERI note web, please refer to sections 3.11.1 and 3.15.1 for additional information on the prerequisites of these packages). There is no additional runtime environment required or database system to be installed for the core product on the client workstations, administrative workstations and servers, because the setup packages for all IDERI note components are fully self-contained and use an industry-strength embedded database system as the backing store for their database operations. The setup packages also will not install any runtime environment on the fly that might adversely impact other applications on the computer.

In order to verify the good integration into the native Windows® platform, IDERI GmbH has submitted all client components except for the IDERI note sidebar gadget to the “Compatible with Windows® 7” logo test (note that there is no logo test available for sidebar gadgets). All submitted product components have successfully passed their tests and therefore IDERI GmbH is entitled to use the “Compatible with Windows® 7” logo like in figure 1.3 for the following product components: IDERI note administrator (version 2.1.420 and higher), IDERI note command line tools (version 2.1.420 and higher), IDERI note Client (version 2.2.511 and higher), IDERI note Ticker (version 2.2.511 and higher), IDERI note administrative tools (version 2.2.511 and higher).

Only “Compatible with Windows® 7” software and devices have passed Microsoft-designed tests for compatibility and reliability on PCs running the Windows® 7 operating system. “Compatible with Windows® 7” products install without worry and run reliably with Windows® 7. Microsoft® recommends “Compatible with Windows® 7” applications because they have passed Microsoft-designed tests to help ensure they install readily every time and minimize the number of crashes, hangs, and restarts you experience.

In addition, the IDERI note server component has been submitted to the “Works with Windows® Server 2008 R2” logo test. The tests for this logo have been conducted by an independent testing company using the standardized tests that have been designed by Microsoft® for this purpose. The test results have then been submitted to Microsoft in order to obtain the “Works with Windows® Server 2008 R2” logo. All tests have been passed successfully and therefore IDERI GmbH is entitled to use the “Works with Windows® Server 2008 R2” logo as in figure 1.4 for the IDERI note service version 2.0.287 and higher.

In order to demonstrate the proper integration of IDERI note version 2.6 and higher into Windows® 8 and Windows® 8.1, the following components have been submitted to the windows client certification tests for the “Certified for Windows® 8” and the “Certified for Windows® 8.1” logo programs: IDERI note 2.6 Command Line Components, IDERI note 2.6 Administrator Components, IDERI note 2.6 Administrator Tools, IDERI note 2.6 Client Components. All tests have been passed successfully and therefore IDERI GmbH is entitled to use the “Windows® 8 Compatible” logo as in figure 1.5 for the aforementioned product components.

From version 2.7 on, the IDERI note server components are certified for Windows® Server 2012 and Windows® Server 2012 R2 and are also listed under the Microsoft certified server applications. Therefore IDERI GmbH is entitled to use the “Windows® Server 2012 Certified” and “Windows® Server 2012 R2 Certified” logos as in figures 1.6 und 1.7.

Starting with version 2.9, all relevant IDERI note product components (IDERI note Command Line Components, IDERI note Administrator Components, IDERI note Administrator Tools, IDERI note Client Components and IDERI note Lite Messaging Tools) have been submitted successfully to the “Certified for Windows 10” logo test. Hence, IDERI GmbH is entitled to use the “Windows® 10 Compatible” Logo as in figure 1.8.

The “Windows® 10 Compatible” Logo requires applications to be resubmitted for a new test if the major version of the product changes. Hence, for version 3.0, all components mentioned in the previous paragraph have been reassessed with this logo test and have successfully passed it.

In addition to the native Windows® platforms, since version 2.2.512 of the IDERI note client and since version 2.1.418 of the IDERI note command line tools, there is also experimental support for the operation of these two product components on x86-Linux under Wine. Please refer to section 13 for additional information.
