13.2. Experimental x86 Linux support for the IDERI note command line tools

From version 2.1.418 on, the IDERI note command line components offer experimental support for operation on x86-Linux under Wine. For the IDERI note command line components, the same limitations apply as for the IDERI note client, when running under Wine: Connection to the IDERI note Server is supported via a TCP port only, not via named pipes. Therefore, an IDERI note server that has to accept connections from the command line tools running on Linux clients, has to be configured in such a way, that it offers a dedicated TCP port for its administration interface in addition to named pipes. In addition, the command line tools only run on Linux clients that are joined to an AD domain via the winbind client from the Samba project. Further limitations are authentication via NTLM only, not via Kerberos, and the lack of message signing and integrity mechanisms. In addition, the functionality of the IDERI note command line tools to discover an IDERI note server via an AD query for a service connection point is missing as well, so the name or IP address of the IDERI note server must be explicitly passed via the command line. Furthermore, Wine currently lacks the ability to determine the SID of a user or a group from the user or group name. Therefore, message recipients have to be passed to the inotecmd.exe command line tool as SID values and the -rs command line switch which instructs inotecmd.exe to treat the message recipients as SID values instead of principal names. In order to determine the SID values for individual principals, the IDERI note command line tools contain the namerslv.exe command line tool that can be run on a native Windows® platform in order to determine a SID from a principal name.
