13.3. Installation on x86-Linux and recommended versions of Wine¶

Installation of the IDERI note components under Wine is done the exact same way as under Windows® by means of execution of the respective MSI package. Since the quality and stability of Wine versions, especially the quality of development versions, is of varying degree, it is very well possible that the IDERI note components do not run at all under certain Wine versions. For this reason, IDERI GmbH does not officially support the operation of IDERI note components under Wine and the support for Wine is therefore considered ‘experimental’. However, you can rest assured, that IDERI GmbH will file bug reports against the Wine project as soon as functionality is introduced into Wine that breaks the existing functionality of the IDERI note components currently running under Wine. The IDERI note client and command line components have been tested successfully on Wine versions 1.1.38 and higher and on versions 1.2.0 and 1.6.0. At the time of writing, no test results exist for Wine versions higher than 1.6.0.
